Introduction:
Although the issues I wrote about in these three different essays seems to be somewhat unrelated, they each have, and will continue to, impact American society in different ways. For my five-paragraph essay, I chose to write about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the numerous ways in which it has effected America. I was eager and confident that I could write about this topic because of my personal connection, due to the fact that I, like thousands of Americans, lived through and experienced the aftermath of that tragic day. By mixing stories, personal accounts, and factual information, I believe I effectively portrayed the immense impact these terrorist attacks had on America. For my second two essays, I chose to write about America: The Fast Food Nation, a serious, although less emotional impacting factor in American society. This issue was perfect to explore, because it is extremely prevalent in my life and the lives of college students. I was able to include some experience I have had with this greasy industry, which helped personalize the issue. Beyond college, it was interesting to research what others areas of society are impacted by fast-food nation negatively. Along with gaining experience in writing, I learned a lot about these issues in the process of drafting my three papers.
